A New Leadership for The European In House Community

1 November, 2014, Paris, France — The Association of Corporate Counsel Europe (ACC Europe), the premier global bar association by in-house counsel, for in-house counsel, recently announced that Stathis Mihos (Pfizer’s Legal Director for Greece, Cyprus & Malta) has been elected President of its Board of Directors. Announced during the ACC Europe Board Meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark on 22 September 2014, the Board elected three new officers, including Board Vice President Mercedes Carmona Mariscal(BP’s Managing Counsel Iberia), Board Secretary Diego Martinotti (formerly British American Tobacco Italia’s Deputy General Counsel and currently in transition), Board Treasurer Paul Gagnier (CAN Europe’s General Counsel) and Immediate Past President, John Lowe (formerly Qioptiq’s General Counsel and Communications Director and currently in transition).
“For over 20 years ACC Europe has proved to be the transformative power for the in house profession in our continent, providing the resources, information, technical and soft skills as well as networking opportunities that the modern in house lawyer needs to survive and excel in a demanding and innovative business environment.”, explained Mihos. “The new Board is committed to using the collective experience of its members to improve the services provided to the in house colleagues around Europe. We will concentrate our efforts in matters like in house diversity, career management for senior and junior colleagues alike and advocacy for the in house profession. To achieve this, the Board will strongly support local and national events and initiatives, improve communications and available resources and expand in underserved territories.”
The ACC Europe Board of Directors now includes, as its members: Chris Fowler (BT’s General Counsel UK Commercial Legal Services), Benedikte Leroy (Dell’s Vice President & EMEA General Counsel), Carsten Lueers (Verizon Enterprise Solutions’ Legal Manager), Janice More (formerly HJ Heinz’s Vice President European General Counsel and currently in transition), Sandra Mori (The Coca-Cola Company’s General Counsel, Europe) and Maria Pernas Martinez (Atos’s Senior Vice-President and Group Deputy General Counsel)
ACC Europe’s main event for 2015 will be as always its Annual Conference, which will take place in Munich, Germany from 31st May to 2nd June. This is the only event of its kind in Europe that is organised by in-house lawyers, for in-house lawyers and offers such a variety of topics. The programme will offer close to 30 sessions organized in 4 tracks – Law Department Management, Pan-European Legal Issues, IP & Technology and Compliance & Dispute Management.
