Eurojust concludes agreement with the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
Following intensive negotiations between Eurojust and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, both parties successfully concluded a judicial cooperation agreement. The ratification of this Agreement on Cooperation between Eurojust and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia will be signed during a ceremony to be held in Brussels on 28 November.
The purpose of this Agreement on Cooperation between Eurojust and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia is to enhance the cooperation between the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Eurojust in the combating of serious forms of transnational crime including terrorism.
The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia may second a Liaison Prosecutor to Eurojust, who shall be regarded as a formal representative to Eurojust.
Eurojust has already concluded judicial cooperation agreements with Europol, Iceland, Norway, the USA and Croatia. All existing cooperation agreements are published on the Eurojust website: http://www.eurojust.europa.eu/official_documents/eju_agreements.htm
Presentation on the agreement will take place on Friday 28 November 2008 at 13:30, during the signing ceremony, in the press room of the European Council, Justus Lipsius building, Brussels. This ceremony will follow the press conference of the JHA Council in the same venue.
In addition to representatives of the French Presidency and the European Commission, Mr Lopes da Mota, President of Eurojust and Ms Gabrijelčič, National Member for Slovenia and Chair of the External Relations Team at Eurojust, will be present.
