WE ARE

The European External Action Service (EEAS) supports the High Representative in the exercise of her mandate to conduct and implement an effective and coherent Union’s Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), to represent the EU and to chair the Foreign Affairs Council.

It also supports the High Representative in her capacity as Vice-President of the Commission with regard to her responsibilities within the Commission in the external relations field, including the coordination of other aspects of the EU’s external action. The EEAS works in close cooperation with the EU Member States, the General Secretariat of the Council, the services of the Commission and the Secretariat General of the European Parliament.

The Data Protection Office (SG.LD.DPO) in the EEAS is in charge of supporting management and staff with independent, objective advice in order to be compliant with relevant data protection provisions, ensuring the protection of the right to privacy within the organisation, taking into account the specific needs of EEAS Headquarters entities and EU Delegations. Assignments cover the monitoring of data processing activities as well as consultation, awareness raising, training and network coordination. Due to the diversity of the activities of the EEAS, the work of the DPO is broad and challenging. Among the different tasks assigned to it, the DPO advises the Secretary General as well as the Director General of Resource Management along with the Managing Directorates and all data controllers at both Headquarters and in Delegations. The DPO also has a consultative role for CSDP missions and operations in relation to data protection requirements and is in charge of the Information to the Public service in the EEAS.

The position of Legal Assistant – Data Protection Compliance Coordinator, contract agent FGIII as per article 3b of the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants of the European Union (hereafter, the “CEOS”)[1].
